The Dissappearence of Urs Kaufmann
Installation consisting of 7 black rooms containing miniature theatres, mailboxes with postcards, childhood photographs and films, among them the 16 mm film «Vertigone», made as a tribute to the Hitchcock film in collaboration with Ali Mahdavi.
In the seventh room, a theater stage, similar to the one in the first cabin, only without the door, the two marionettes of the protagonists are sitting. One can hear an extract of a dialog from the film based on the Pirandello play «As you desire me».
As one advances from room to room, the dialog from the film becomes more and more audible, fully in this last room with the two marionettes.
The installation is the story of confusion over identity, its loss, a kind of projective identification. The work focuses on the desire to become someone else and to disappear in the process , to become the embodiment of the other’s projection .
